Nequetta Alford
(Brandi) Have you ever dreamed of packing your items and relocating to a new city that’s the complete opposite of your native town within the blink of an eye and having strong faith that things will work out? Nequetta Lashaun Alford fulfilled that dream. On August 21, 2004, with support of her family and mentor, Nequetta took a years worth of savings, her car, and clothing and relocated from Pine Bluff, Arkansas to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to attend graduate school at Philadelphia University.
Nequetta’s educational history begins with her dedication as an undergraduate student at the Southeast Arkansas College (SEARK College) where she received her Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) degree in 2001. She simultaneously began matriculating at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, where in 2003, she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Gerontology. At the University of Arkansas, Nequetta is known for being the second member at the University of Arkansas to pledge Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated as a freshman student. During her tenure at the university, Nequetta had the honor of serving as Ms. Gerontology 2003, Gerontology President 2003, and as an active member of Delta Sigma Theta (Delta Eta Chapter). Nequetta was also awarded the Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Scholar award for being the Most Persistent Scholar in 2003. While residing in Pine Bluff, Nequetta was always actively involved in her community and church at the New St. Hurricane Missionary Baptist Church. Nequetta was recently recognized by the New St. Hurricane Missionary Baptist Church for her extensive success, motivation and her mentoring capabilities in Pine Bluff, Arkansas on April 2009.
In the community of Pine Bluff, Nequetta is the CEO and Founder of Futuristic Fashionist hosting fashion shows (Fingez of Fashion 2002) and award shows (Pine Bluff People’s Choice Awards 2003 and 2004) throughout her native town. Nequetta is recognized as a community activist and has given back to her community by making various contributions including: $500 in 2002 at the Fingez of Fashion Show (to the best dressed model in the fashion show) and giving awards to numerous community members in 2003 and 2004 (for receiving the most votes by the community in their expertise). In 2004, Nequetta received a $1,500 scholarship from the committee of Futuristic Fashionist to attend graduate school in Philadelphia.
Since relocating to Philadelphia, Nequetta attended graduate school at the University of Phoenix, where she completed her Master of Business Administration degree while working full-time in the mental health field. More recently, Nequetta received a Post-Master’s Certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis from St. Joseph’s University, where she will also graduate with her second Master’s degree in Criminal Justice in December 2009.
Approximately two years ago, Nequetta began increasing her physical fitness by attending the gym three to four days a week. In October 2008, a young male in the gym asked Nequetta if she was interested in acting and asked her to be present for an audition for a lead role in the movie trailer: You Better Watch Out I got Your Man directed by Jeanine Walton. In December 2008, this same young male asked Nequetta to audition for a video directed by DJ Pham and Jahi-Ali titled “In My Whips,” which was a success. In January 2009, again this young male contacted Nequetta about auditioning for a Video (Baby Daddy) with Rap Artist Kevin Sims and Director Darrell Lawrence. Kash
Goins
Kash Goins is a Delaware resident who was born and raised in South Philly as the youngest of five boys. He has always had a penchant for acting and producing plays, evident by the improv skits and impromptu plays he would "produce" on the streets of Point Breeze and Moore with family and friends as a grade school attendant. He didn't pursue his first formal acting experience until he was a Junior at Lincoln University landing a role as George Murchinson in "Raisin in the Sun." In his very next campus production he landed the lead in “River Niger,” a part created by his theatrical idol James Earl Jones. After graduation he was fortunate to gain work as a member of the Freedom Theatre Rep, where he was directed by mentor Walter Dallas in “Sparkle,” The Musical,” “Lazarus,” “Unstoned,” and “The Bluest Eye.”
In 2008 Kash founded GoKash Productions and has mounted two original self-written plays, the 2009 NYC Downtown Urban Theatre Festival Best Play winner “VI Degrees” and the hilarious comedy “Man, I Shoulda Put A Ring On It!”. Goins has just completed his adaptation of "VI Degrees" to a short film and the product is sure to gain national exposure for the GoKash Productions movement.
Fresh off of the physically and mentally challenging creation of the title character in Chris Braak's world premiere of “The Life of John Henry”, Goins is poised for a whirlwind of creativity and activity in 2010. First up is the coveted Director / Actor / Co-Producer role in Aliya Tene's hilarious "Tryna Get to Heaven on 15 Cents". While driving the VI Degrees Movie through the National Film Festival circuit, Goins will be concurrently preparing for his debut in March at Wilmington Drama League in the role of Gabriel in August Wilson's "Fences", and completing preparations for the debut Easter theatrical extravaganza for his church Enon Tabernacle. The remainder of the Spring will include a re-visit to the Downtown Urban Theatre Festival with his just completed sequel to VI Degrees titled "VII Deadly Sins", followed by another honored directorial endeavor with Cheril Clarke and her critically acclaimed stage play "Intimate Chaos". In the early summer, Kash will mount a stage adaptation of Author April Walker's newly released novel "More than one Way to Skin a Dog". The stage play will be titled "Catch a Dog, Skin a dog... How Men Cheat!"
Kash thanks GOD for continued opportunities for creative expression and the energy to KEEP GOING!!! His battle cry - Let's Get It!!! Getting "it" is exactly what Goins appears determined to do!
